After 25 years, Mariah's Christmas lands at #1

Mariah Carey’s holiday classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” just reached a new milestone. The song, which was released 25 years ago, nabs the number one spot on the “Billboard” Hot 100 singles chart for the very first time this week.

The tune also tops the Streaming Songs chart for a second week and the Digital Songs Sales for the first week. 

The tune marks Mariah’s 19th overall number one, the most Hot 100 hits for a solo artist. It also gives her the longest span of Hot 100 chart topers, with her first, “Vision of Love,” coming 29 years, four months and two weeks ago. This surpasses the previous record holder, Cher, whose span was 27 years and five months. It is also the longest journey to number one, at over 25 years,

  • To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Mariah’s holiday classic, New York’s Empire State Building has teamed with iHeartRadio for a music-to-light show timed to the classic. The event will take place Thursday and will be synced live at 8 p.m. ET on New York's Z100, Power 105.1, 103.5 KTU and 106.7 Lite fm.
