David Letterman received the Mark Twain Award.

David Letterman's beard might be an even bigger star than he is, at least for one night. The nation's longest-serving late-night talk show host received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center last night. All the comedians who honored Letterman roasted him for the very full, very gray beard he's been growing since he retired from CBS's "The Late Show" in 2015.

For example, Amy Schumer said Letterman had successfully transitioned from stand-up comic to late night host to Civil War re-enactor. Letterman hosted late night shows on NBC and CBS for more than 32 years.
