Thanks to spell check, auto-correct, and Google, misspelling words is rare nowadays ... or it should be. In honor of the Scripps National Spelling Bee, Google Trends released stats based on online searches including the words "how to spell" to determine the words people have the hardest time spelling.
Turns out "beautiful" really gives a lot of people in the U.S. a hard time. According to the Trends report, the spelling of the word "beautiful" was the most commonly searched spelling in 11 states: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious came in a not so close second with six states searching this Mary Poppins classic, including Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Oregon, and Texas. (Newser)
