Tonight is the annual Stand Up 2 Cancer telethon.
This year marks ten years since the Stand Up 2 Cancer charity began. Katie Couric and several notable entertainment figures started the charity with the idea that 100-percent of donations go to research and programs. They have succeeded. The telecast has helped raise $480 million, going toward cutting-edge research aimed at turning “every cancer patient into a survivor.” Their goal is to accelerate the pace of new research and technology — and get life-saving therapies into the hands of patients as quickly as possible.
The show will feature a big line-up of celebrity appearances from Stevie Wonder, Trevor Noah, Kathy Bates, Tracee Ellis Ross, Winona Ryder, Jennifer Garner and more. Bradley Cooper returns as producer. The show airs on ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and over a dozen other channels. It will also be live-streamed on YouTube. All donations go to cancer research efforts.
