The crime drama has been renewed for a record-breaking 21st season. It surpasses the original “Law & Order” series and the western drama, “Gunsmoke,” which both ran for 20 seasons.
SVU star Mariska Hargitay's character, Lieutenant Olivia Benson, is also now the longest-running character in a primetime live-action series.
