Kate Middleton & Meghan Markle's Recent Outings Were Reportedly PR Stunts

Celebrities Attend Wimbledon 2019

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton looked like total royal besties at two different public outings over the past few weeks. Between their day out with all their kiddos in tow and their appearance at Wimbledon together, the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge had royal watchers wondering if these two were ever actually feuding.

Well, it turns out that's exactly what Kate and Meghan wanted everybody to think. According to royal reporter Katie Nicholl, both public outings were an orchestrated effort by the Cambridges and Sussexes to squash all those rumors of bad blood between them. Here's what Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight:

"There have been two major circumstances, which are very calculated and deliberate efforts to try and stem these rumors about a feud between the foursome. We saw it at the polo match where William and Harry were obviously playing together. We hadn't expected the duchesses to turn up with their children. The fact that they did is a wonderful treat for royal watchers, but I think those candid pictures were quite deliberately intended to snuff out those rumors of the feud between the foursome. And you saw them all very close, very happy, very comfortable with each other."

Even though Kate and Meghan wanted their hangouts to be photographed doesn't mean they aren't friends IRL. Nicholl claims the planned photos actually do prove the Duchesses get along really well. She continued:

"We saw Kate and Meghan in the royal box getting along, chatting to each other, looking very much like friends. To have had the tennis [outing] so soon afterward, and obviously the two duchesses being so close together and so comfortable in each other's company, yes, for the time being, you're not going to be read stories of a feud. You're going to be reading stories about how the duchesses get on and I am told that both of them are making an effort to get along."

Another royal source seemed to confirm this sentiment to People, as well, telling the magazine that even though there was "undue pressure where the whole world wanted them to be best friends," Kate and Meghan managed to form a close bond. Since becoming a mother in May, Meghan has reportedly grown closer to Kate.

The recent split of the Cambridge and Sussex households, as well as Harry and Megh's departure from the Royal Foundation, has also been good for the two families. The changes have helped them reconnect, as well as allowed them to spend "more time to be like family” as opposed to co-workers.
