Disney Will Introduce The First Jewish Princess On 'Elena of Avalor'

There's a new Disney princess in town! The first Jewish Disney princess will be introduced on an upcoming episode of Elena of Avalor's third season. The popular Disney Channel show follows teenage princess Elena as she learns to rule the kingdom of Avalor. She's helped on her journey by her Grandfather Tito, Grandmother Cici and royal adviser Duke Esteban, as well as wizard-in-training Mateo.

Elena and her friends will meet the new princess in an episode that centers around a Hannukah celebration. In the episode, which will air in December, Elena will visit a Latinx Jewish kingdom. She'll meet her new friend during this special journey. Elena's new friend, a fellow princess, will be voiced by Sopranos actress Jamie-Lynn Siegler. "I am so excited to voice Disney’s first Jewish princess," she shared alongside some heart emojis.

Though Siegler's character is still unnamed, the actress excitedly shared the news on her Twitter account. Elena of Avalor writer Rachel Ruderman gave a few more details about the princess's introduction. "A little over a year ago, I had the honor of writing an Elena of Avalor episode featuring Disney's first Jewish princess. Jamie Lynn Sigler knocks the role out of the park (wait 'till you hear her song!)," Ruderman tweeted.

Are you excited to see the first Jewish Disney princess make her debut on Elena of Avalor? Who knows, maybe we'll get a whole lot more of this still-unnamed princess. Elena of Avalor started as a one-time character on Disney Junior's Sofia the First before getting her own series. Fingers crossed this princess gets her own series in the future, too!
