Daily Do Good: Texas Student Pledges Half Of $1.2Million Field Goal Contest Prize To Charity

A University of Texas freshman won $1.2-million with a field goal on “ESPN’s College GameDay” and plans to give half of his winnings to charity. Connor Kacena-Merrell missed his first attempt, but Matthew McConaughey and Kirk Herbstreit each added $100-thousand to the prize and gave him another shot. The second kick sailed through the uprights, earning the student the massive payday. Kacena-Merrell says half will go to an Indianapolis-based nonprofit Building Tomorrow, which helps provide children in East Africa with access to education.
