As we previously reported, backlash has been brewing over Kendall Jenner's Pepsi commercial. In the ad, the model joins a protest, gives a cop a Pepsi, and basically solves whatever issue the group was protesting.
Many people called the ad out for being tone-deaf and simply "dumb." While Kendall has stayed quiet, Pepsi did release a statement and at first, they stuck by the ad, calling it "an important message to convey."
Eventually, though, the company pulled the commercial. “Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly we missed the mark and we apologize," a statement says. "We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further roll-out. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.”
