A recent survey found that nearly 50% of adults in the United States have no idea where chocolate milk comes from. An Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy survey found that 48% of adult Americans don’t know where chocolate milk comes from and, this is particularly scary, 7% think it comes from milking brown cows. Another 29% admitted that they use their kids as an excuse to buy chocolate milk for themselves.
Researchers aren’t surprised, however. An older study found that 1 in 5 Americans didn’t know that hamburgers are made from beef. And yet another study of middle schoolers found more than half didn't know pickles are cucumbers or that onions and lettuce are plants. And more than 30% didn't know cheese is made from milk.
