A lottery ticket mistake made her a big winner

A mother of two was shopping in New York when she asked the clerk for a $1 lottery scratch-off ticket. The clerk made a mistake and handed her a $10 ticket. Instead of correcting the clerk, she decided to buy it anyway -- and it ended up being a great decision because the ticket was a big winner, to the tune of $5 million.

But for a while, 46-year-old Oksana Zaharov didn’t even realize she was rich. She actually used the ticket as a bookmark for a couple weeks before she actually scratched it.

When she finally got around to scratching it, of course, it changed her life.

Oksana said she’ll use the money to pay for college tuition for her kids and a family trip to the Bahamas -- all this good fortune because of an honest mistake made by a store clerk. (Huffington Post)
