California Driver Arrested For Transporting 285 Gallons Of Diesel Fuel

A driver in California was arrested after he disobeyed a "lawful order" from California Highway Patrol deputies and fled from a gas station with 285 gallons of diesel fuel in the back of his minivan. The officers informed the driver that it was illegal for him to transport that much gasoline and gave him information about how to legally transport the fuel that was inside his vehicle.

They told the driver, who has not been identified, that he could not leave the gas station with the fuel still in the back of his minivan. He refused to listen to them and drove away from the gas station as soon as the deputies left. Officers pulled him over, detained him, and had his minivan impounded.

Officials did not say what they plan to do with the five 55-gallon drums of diesel fuel, which cost the driver over $940.

"We understand fuel prices are going up, but this is not the way to stock up on fuel," the California Highway Patrol said on Facebook.
