Dashcam Footage Shows Truck Exploding in Burger King Drive-Thru

A man in Arkansas is lucky to be alive after a 100-pound propane tank sitting in the back of his truck exploded in a massive ball of flames while he was waiting to pick up some fast food.

An employee at the Burger King in Beebe, Arkansas noticed the propane tank was leaking gas and notified the driver, Ron Daniel, about the hazard. When Daniel got out of the red pickup truck to check on the tank's release valve, the vehicle burst into flames, sending a ball of flames above the restaurant's roof and sending people scattering for cover.

Dashcam video released by the Beebe Police Department showed the propane in the pickup truck exploding in the Burger King drive-thru lane. Fortunately, authorities had managed to clear the area before the massive explosion.

"I told you it was going to blow," a witness can be heard saying nearby.

Daniel survived the incident, but had to be taken to a local hospital with first-degree burns all over his body. He was later released that night.

Daniel told local news outlet KARK that he had just picked up the propane tank when he stopped at the fast food restaurant to pick up a few Whoppers. His truck was a "total loss" after the fire and he said he felt bad for causing damage to the restaurant.

"I'm just thankful that I'm alive and the thing that bothers me more than anything...is the damage to Burger King," Ron Daniel said.

The Beebe Police Department released dashcam footage of the incident as units responded to the scene. In a statement posted to Facebook, the Department wrote: "This afternoon at approximately 1:30 p.m. Beebe Police Officers and Firemen responded to a pickup on fire in the drive through lane of the Burger King Restaurant located at 2326 Center Street in Beebe."

"The Beebe Fire Department responded and was quickly able to put the fire out. The outside and inside of business sustained damage."

It’s unclear when the Burger King damaged in the explosion might reopen.
