Spencer The Golden Retriever is known as the Boston Marathon’s biggest canine fan. At this year's marathon, he received a special honor.
Wearing his Boston strong bandana, Spencer was dubbed the official dog of the 126th edition of the marathon. The 12-year-old has been a fixture at the race for eight years, cheering the runners on, but this year was special.
In 2020, he had a benign tumor removed and last year he battled cancer and is in remission. Richard Powers, Spencer’s pet parent, is glad the pup was up to attend the race.
