Lizzo is gearing up for a new era as she shared her new comeback single "Love in Real Life."
The "Good as Hell" singer dropped her first solo track in around two years on Friday (February 28), giving fans a hint of what to expect on her forthcoming album with the pop-rock sound.
The opening lyrics explain how "love in real life" — not likes on social media or views on a new video — is exactly what she needs to bring her back to a "much simpler" way of living. The theme of getting back to herself is explored through the rest of the song, with the chorus snapping out, "Give me something with a little tempo/ Hey, ho, hey, ho/ Give me something I can throw it back for/ By the end of the world, by the end of the night/ Baby come over here, I need love in real life."
Lizzo also dropped an accompanying music video, featuring a night out on the town that goes extremely awry when she finds herself surrounded by dancing zombies. However, as they stomped their way toward her while she ran for her life, she was drawn into the groove and joined in as they all danced freely in the moonlit cobblestone streets.
"Love in Real Life" is the first glimpse of her forthcoming fifth album set to release this summer, per Billboard. The single also marks her first new solo track since "Pink" that was featured on the Barbie soundtrack. Her last studio album, Special, dropped in 2022.
In addition to dropping her latest single, Lizzo announced a set of three intimate shows next month: March 12 at Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, March 16 at Irving Plaza in New York, and March 18 at First Ave. in Minneapolis. More information can be found on her website.
