A former William Allen High School principal is suing the Allentown School District. Cheryl Clark was fired from her job at Allen High School in January. Now, she's suing the Allentown School District, claiming she was harassed and discriminated against because she is Black and a woman. The lawsuit states Clark was also never given the tools needed to fix problems at Allen she was hired to address, like poor academic performance, poor morale, and lack of discipline. The suit requests a jury trial and seeks monetary damages.
For the sixth straight year, Lehigh Valley Health Network is once again picking up the parking tab on four Saturdays in the heart of Bethlehem. Those Saturdays are November 30, and December 7, 14, and 21. Drivers can park for free for two hours in a zone around Historic Bethlehem’s Main Street and the Southside Arts District. If you're not sure if you're in the zone, look for the green meter bags and festive signage.
No injuries are reported after an early Tuesday morning fire in Palmer Township. It happened on Rosemont Court around 3 a.m. Fire officials say the fire began in the basement and all of the people inside made it out safely. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
AAA East Central says gas prices continue to head south in both the Lehigh Valley and across the commonwealth. The average price in Pennsylvania was $3.24 as of Tuesday, three cents below the previous week's figure and 35 cents less than last November 19th. In the Lehigh Valley, the price was $3.09 Tuesday, down almost four cents from last Tuesday and 29 cents less than November 19, 2023.
Met-Ed is taking unprecedented measures to lower the risk of wildfires. The company is disabling devices that can fix power outages before they even occur in Berks County and other places. The company said the device could cause a spark that can potentially grow into a large fire. Berks and Schuylkill Counties remain under a drought warning by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
There's a Winter Storm Watch posted for the Poconos from late tomorrow through late Friday. "I think when all is said and done, there's probably going to be some places with four-to-six inches of snow up in the Poconos," says Accu-Weather's Joe Lundberg. He says in the immediate Lehigh Valley the precipitation will be much-needed rain, with a half-inch to maybe a full inch of rain expected.
President-elect Donald Trump is nominating former Pennsylvania Senate candidate Doctor Oz to lead the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. CMS oversees Medicare, Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program, and Healthcare-dot-gov, which currently provides coverage to nearly 50-percent of Americans. Trump said Oz "has been at the forefront of healthy living for decades," and will work alongside Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who's been nominated to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. Democratic Senator John Fetterman, who defeated Oz in their 2022 race, posted on social media that he would vote to approve his former Republican opponent if he committed to protecting and preserving Medicare and Medicaid.
Sheetz says it's selling unleaded 88 gas at 40 cents less per gallon from now until November 30th. Unleaded 88 has a higher amount of ethanol compared to Unleaded 87, which is more commonly known as “regular” gasoline. Due to the higher amount of ethanol, Unleaded 88 burns cleaner and is more environmentally friendly. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has approved Unleaded 88 for all cars, trucks and SUVs made in 2001 or later.
The Top Five schools in the latest College Football Playoff rankings are unchanged. Oregon, Ohio State, Texas, Penn State and Indiana remain one-through-five in the third installment of the ranks.
