Officers were called to the D-and-L Trail in Slatington yesterday. WFMZ-TV reports authorities were searching an area on the 100 block of Main Street, but no other details are known at this time. Pennsylvania State Police are expected to release more information later today.

A 63-year-old woman died after an ice-skating accident at the SteelStacks ice rink. Maria Luisa Jimenez, of Costa Rica, was pronounced dead just after 1:30 Monday morning. Jimenez fell backwards while ice skating and struck her head on the ice, according to the coroner's office. In a statement Monday afternoon, ArtsQuest said the accident happened at the Ice Rink at SteelStacks. "We are devastated that this incident occurred, and our hearts go out to Ms. Jimenez’s family, friends and loved ones," ArtsQuest said.

The real estate developer behind many shopping centers in the Lehigh Valley and the namesake for Lehigh University’s football stadium has died. Murray H. Goodman died in Florida at 99, according to his obituary. The Bethlehem native was founder of The Goodman Co., which started in 1960 in Allentown before relocating to West Palm Beach, Florida. The company is responsible for the development of a number of commercial real estate projects, including the 25th Street Shopping Center in Easton, and Crest Plaza and Village West, both of which are in Allentown. The Goodman Co. was also responsible for the Berkshire Mall in Berks County.

PEEPSFEST is here to ring in the New Year. The famous festival at SteelStacks is now in its 16th year. The big PEEP stand 4'9" tall, weighting 400 pounds, it's a giant, glowing, yellow Peep that drops promptly at 5:35 p.m.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is giving its approval to funding for more than two dozen rail infrastructure projects. $55 million has been okayed by the State Transportation Commission to further the efforts.

A Manhattan judge has denied former Senator Bob Menendez's request for a delay in his sentencing but he agreed to postpone Menendez's wife's trial until next month. Menendez was convicted in July in a wide-ranging corruption case involving gold bars and piles of cash. Menendez sought a delay in his sentencing -- scheduled for January 29th -- until after his wife's trial on similar charges. Different trials were scheduled after her diagnosis of breast cancer. Her trial is now scheduled to begin February 5th.
