An unidentified man is dead after a police chase ended in gunfire in Northampton County. Michele Anderson owns a Wind Gap ice cream shop and describes what she saw around 7:30 Saturday night. "It was a slow time in the ice cream shop, my husband and I were sitting and just looking out the window. We noticed that there were about seven police cars that were going at a high rate of speed in front of our store," Anderson says. Forks Township Police were in pursuit of a 2016 Kia when it became disabled near North Broadway and Tribe Lane in Wind Gap Borough. Investigators say s 65-year-old Easton man then shot himself and a police officer shot the driver, too. Officers performed immediate medical care to the man, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital. No officers were injured, and the man was not identified. State police are investigating this incident.

There are no reports of injuries after a fire at an assisted living facility in Northampton County last night. Authorities said the fire started in the back of an apartment building at Saucon Valley Manor in Hellertown. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.

First responders were needed to put out a brush fire in the Lehigh Valley on Sunday. The blaze was reported in Lower Saucon Township shortly before 4:30 p.m. Officials said the fire burned about two acres before crews were able to put it out. Nobody was injured.

There were fewer traffic accidents in Pennsylvania last year. That's according to a study by Insurify, which says the accident rate in the commonwealth declined by almost 15-percent compared to 2023. However, the website said the Keystone State still had the 18th-highest rate in 2024. Insurify used its database of almost 100-million car insurance quotes along with information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to create the report.

New Jersey Assemblywoman Heather Simmons has introduced a bill that would make insurance companies pay for all necessary menopause treatments. Simmons' bill would cover procedures such as non-hormonal treatments, behavioral healthcare services and bone health treatments. Simmons says about 6000 women reach menopause in the United States every day but there is little support around it.

The Lehigh University women's basketball team won the Patriot League championship Sunday and secured an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. The Mountain Hawks beat Army 74-62 to run their record to 27-6. Lehigh is seeded 15th in their region and will play second seed Duke in round one on Friday night.

Villanova University is looking for a new basketball coach. The school decided to part ways with Kyle Neptune over the weekend. He finished with a 54-and-47 record but failed to make it to the NCAA Tournament under his leadership. New athletic director Eric Roedl will lead the search for a replacement.
