Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire at a hotel in Easton that displaced 20 people over the weekend. Police say officers driving on North Fourth Street Saturday morning spotted a fire in an empty room at Hotel Lafayette. Crews were able to quickly get the fire under control, but smoke and water damage made part of the building uninhabitable. The Red Cross is helping those affected.

Crews are continuing to fight a mulch fire in Lehigh Township. Firefighters have been at the scene on the 300 block of Cherryville Road since a large pile of mulch ignited early Saturday morning. The fire department says it is facing difficulties getting the blaze under control due to heavy smoke and debris. Officials say the fire covers less than an acre of the surface, but could be up to twenty-feet deep.

Officials are expecting record attendance at this year's Lehigh Valley Auto Show. Executive Director Dan Moyer believes the 2025 auto show brought in over 65-thousand people. According to Moyer, there were 30-thousand attendees on Saturday alone. This year's event included a NASCAR Pit Crew Challenge, where competitors raced to see who could remove a wheel and tire and install new ones the fastest.

A Weatherly Police officer is being credited with likely saving a woman's life on Saturday. Authorities were called to a borough home with reports that a woman was choking. With EMS a good distance away, the officer took it upon themselves to quickly respond and was able to dislodge a piece of food from the victim's airway and the individual was then able to begin breathing normally again.

Who controls Pennsylvania's House of Representatives will be decided in a special election tomorrow. Democrat Dan Goughnour is facing off against Republican Chuck Davis and Libertarian Adam Kitta in the special election to fill the seat left vacant by the January death of Rep. Matt Gergely. Since Gergely's death the House has been evenly divided at 101. The district is a strong Democrat region, with Kamala Harris picking up 58-percent of the vote last November. Another special election tomorrow will determine who fills the state Senate seat that Lancaster County Republican Ryan Aument relinquished to work for new U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick.

Senator David McCormick wants to make bilingual training more available to Pennsylvanians. McCormick says the ability to speak both English and Spanish gives people more opportunities, and the commonwealth needs to promote the education of it. He made the comments Friday while touring the Tec Centro facility in Lancaster, which provides bilingual education and skills training. He called Tec Centro a "great model" for programs that he says Pennsylvania needs to grow and prosper.

State lawmakers today will consider a proposal to ease New Jersey's ban on disposable shopping bags. It would allow supermarkets and other retailers to provide disposable paper bags as long as they're made from at least 40 percent recycled materials. Opponents of the bag ban say it has backfired, with discarded reusable bags creating more waste than single-use bags. Environmentalists say consumers have come to accept reusable bags, and the ban should not be watered down.
