Accu-Weather said it was going to be very windy Monday and it was. "There were some strong winds with those thunderstorms and showers that came through late last evening," says Accu-Weather's Brian Thompson. He says wind gusts registered up to 60 or 70 miles per hour in some areas in addition to the .85 inches of rain that officially fell at the airport.
Monday storms equal Tuesday power outages throughout the Lehigh Valley and Pennsylvania. PPL now reports fewer than 20,000 of its customers are without service at this hour. More than 7800 of them live in Lehigh and Northampton counties. First Energy says it has whittled its power outages down to below 29,000. More than 12,000 of them are found in Berks County. Monroe County has more than 2300 First Energy customers without service, while Bucks and Northampton counties combine for 2200 outages as of 8am.
There's a lot we don't know about what police in Forks Township are calling an isolated incident. The Forks Township PD was called to Meadow Lane Drive just before 3 o'clock Monday afternoon. Police have only issued a release saying they were investigating an isolated incident in the area. Neighbors say they didn't see or hear any issue and didn't know there was a problem until police flocked to the scene.
The Lehigh County Coroner's Office says it was the body of 46-year-old Toddrick Bynoe pulled out of the Lehigh River Saturday. Police say there were multiple warrants out for Bynoe and sheriff' department employees were trying to arrest him at a home in Northampton last Thursday when he fled and jumped into the Lehigh River in Coplay. After a lengthy search failed to find Bynoe, his body was finally located in about nine feet of water in the area of 200 block of North Second Street in Coplay. He was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is planned for Tuesday.
The investigation continues after a store employee was assaulted in Northampton County last month. Wilson Borough police say a man walked into the Dollar General on Butler Street and attacked an employee before fleeing on February 8th. Anyone with information on the assault is asked to contact Wilson Borough P-D.
Ten of Musikfest's 11 Wind Creek Steel Stage headliners are now locked in. Country star Russell Dickerson will be coming to Bethlehem on the night of Friday, July 31. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday.
An Eagles Super Bowl champion is calling it a career. Darius Slay announced his retirement on Monday after 13 seasons in the NFL. The cornerback spent five years in Philadelphia, helping to contribute to the Super Bowl 59 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Slay finished his career with 28 interceptions after he was taken by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2013 draft.
