It was Adele's night at The Grammys

The 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards took place last night and Adele walked away the big winner, sweeping all the awards she was nominated for, including the major categories Album of the Year for “25," and Song of the Year and Record of the Year for “Hello." In the other major category of the night, Chance the Rapper took home Best New Artist Award, one of two awards he won last night.

In terms of numbers, the late David Bowie matched Adele’s haul, winning all five awards for which he was nominated, including Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance for the track “Blackstar,” and Best Alternative Music Album for his final album of the same name, all of which marked the late singer’s first musical GRAMMY wins.

  • Host James Corden kept things moving nicely. His best bit, not surprising, was a Carpool Karaoke segment from the audience. James, wearing a fake car cut out, got J.Lo, Neil Diamond, Keith Urban, Jon Legend and more (even Blue Ivy) into the car and had them, and the entire Staples Center, singing Diamond’s classic “Sweet Caroline.”
  • Two of the major highlights of the GRAMMYs were the tributes to Prince and George Michael, who both passed away last year. Michael was honored by Adele, who performed his song “Fastlove.” She began singing the tune off key and swore, and then started the whole song again because she didn’t want to do it badly for Michael.
  • Meanwhile, Prince’s tribute featured The Time performing “Jungle Love” and “The Bird,” which had the audience (even Jay-Z) dancing in the aisles. Then, after Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy” intro, Bruno Mars, dressed in a purple sequined jacket, took over to perform, complete with Prince-like guitar solo at the end.
  • Last night's show featured a slew of performances, including standouts from Adele, Beyonce, Chance the Rapper, Katy Perry, A Tribe Called Quest and more. It also featured a tribute to the Bee Gees and a celebration of the 40th anniversary of “Saturday Night Fever,” featuring Demi Lovato,  Tori Kelly, Little Big Town and Andra Day performing “Night Fever.”
