Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have filed for divorce – almost two years after they announced their separation – and it looks like it’ll be very amicable.
Jen’s petition and Ben’s response were filed together and mirror each other. Both of them want joint legal and physical custody of their three children. They left the spousal support question open so that a judge could award it before the divorce becomes final. While they didn’t list a date of separation, they announced it in June 2015. Apparently, they did NOT have a prenup. That means that all everything they accumulated during the marriage will be split down the middle unless they agree otherwise.
At this point, it looks like the case won’t actually go to court. Instead, the Afflecks will use a mediator, which is what celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser is known for. Also, they’re still hammering out a divorce settlement. Once that’s all done, they could officially be back on the singles scene in six months.
