Katy Perry is in a bit of hot water because of an Australian ad in which she seems to advocate dogs chasing after koalas.
The ad is to promote a contest with retail company MYER, which is giving away tickets to the Down Under leg of her upcoming “Witness: The Tour.” The ad features Katy’s teacup poodle Nugget, and at one point she’s heard telling the pooch, “Let’s go chase some koalas, Nugget!”
Apparently the line is offensive because around 1,100 koalas are killed by dogs every year. MYER eventually took the line out of the commercial, but its inclusion has left at least one wildlife expert shaking her head. “I’m still amazed as to how the marketing department could have let this comment feature on an ad in the first place,” Queensland wildlife vet Claire Madden says. “It’s sheer ignorance.”
