Study: Cost of Raising a Child Now Tops $300,000

If you feel like raising kids is getting more expensive by the minute… you’re not wrong. A new study from LendingTree says the average cost to raise a child in the U.S. is now about $16,857 a year.

When you add that up over 18 years, parents are looking at just over $303,000, assuming a household earning the median family income of around $100,000 a year.

And here’s the kicker — that number doesn’t even touch college. Tack that on, and you could be looking at another $152,000.

So yeah… kids are priceless — but wow, they’re definitely not cheap.
