So hot in here! Nelly joined Ryan Seacrest in-studio and reflected on why 2000s era rappers like himself all sounded so unique at the time.
The iconic rapper, who is hitting the road on tour alongside Ja Rule and Eve, shared there's such a difference now with how artists can easily go viral before even becoming an artist per se.
"You had to buy into the artist themselves," Nelly reflected while chatting about the likes of Jay-Z, DMX, Luda, 50 Cent, Eminem and himself.
"We grew up on the culture first. And then we were a part of it," Nelly added. "We come from that era where you had to prove yourself to get the deal, not you got the deal now you have to prove you can keep it -- its backwards ... It's not bad, it's just different."
