When i heard they were doing a BUMBLEBEE movie... I was pretty 'meh'. Why?
1). All the recent Transformers movies have sucked
2). Bumblebee is the most-boring Transformer.
But then i saw the new trailer for BUMBLEBEE and I'm cautiously optimistic. First off...they've ditched the insane character designs from the Michael Bay movies, and gone back to 'G1' Transformers. This is the look we all grew up on, in the comics, toys and TV show. These LOOK like the Transformers i loved. Run through this trailer and you'll see Starscream, Optimus, Shockwave, Soundwave and others. I didn't catch a glimpse of Megatron, but I assume he's back to the iconic 'pistol' character in this movie. That's a good thing. I'm too old to re-learn Transformers. I spend 10 years of my childhood memorizing every minute detail about the comics and toys... no need to change it all with a mish-mash of bad CGI.
I still think Bumblebee is the most-boring Transformer, but he's got the most interesting storyline possibilites. In the original series, he was underpowered and always the smallest, weakest character. That might be boring for a toy, but it's more interesting than watching Optimus and Megatron rage-punch each other for 2 hours.
Eh, who am i kidding? Give me the rage punches, and have Shockwave show up in the last minutes to kill everyone (if you remember that storyline, then you and i have some comic books to discuss)
Anyway... keep hope alive for this franchise. Trailer looks decent
